Hi, I’m Chelsea Maras. Thanks for stopping by and for considering me to be your photographer!

I am a Cali girl through and through, born and raised in Huntington Beach, Surf City USA. It’s where I grew up, it’s where I discovered my love of art and it’s where I run my business.  I started my academic career at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles and went on to learn more about art than I could have ever imagined at California State University of Long Beach. It was during my time at Long Beach that I picked up my first film camera and went into the dark room, I loved every minute of it. I was hooked, I went and bought a digital camera after that, I fell in love with taking pictures and I have been doing it ever since.

Adventures are my favorite. I love being outside and finding beauty in places that other people walk right past. Every photo shoot to me is an adventure where we get to explore and find cool new spots together. I tend to get really excited about pretty light and hiding in bushes to get “the shot” is another one of my favorite things to do. Before I starting taking photos professionally I taught art to children and nannied for the sweetest family ever. I think my experience with kids is a huge help when it comes to taking photos with them. I love all the conversations we have during our adventures. The way they see the world never ceases to amaze me and they help keep my imagination alive which I think helps my photos.

When I am not taking photos I am usually off working on all my DIY projects or running my fashion blog and Etsy Shop, The Nerdy Boho.  I have an obsession for succulents and all things interior design.  If I’m not working I’m usually out treasure hunting at thrift stores, watching Netflix with my babe and our sweet kitty Cali Burrito, or off chasing the sunset. We try to end at least one day a month with our toes in the sand watching the sunset, if you don’t do that, you should really start. I have three little wiener dogs who I just love, a mom and a sister who are forever my tripod, they support me in everything that I do, and an amazing husband who is my partner in crime and fellow adventurer. My favorite part of this gig is meeting new friends, I have spent so much time with so many amazing people during such exciting moments of their lives. I feel so honored every time I see a couple say “I do” or meet a newborn for the first time, I hope that shows in my work and I get to be a part of your beautiful story!

xoxo
